THE SOUL BEHIND LENA'S GLADE
I am Lena, born in Germany in 1991.
My work history: I grew up in a small town in Bavaria, south Germany.
With my mum being a passionate physiotherapist, medical knowledge and healthy living were part of my life from early on.
After finishing high school, I wanted to learn an animal-based job and ended up studying animal management in the Netherlands. Due to family reasons, I had to terminate my studies and come back home within the first year.
Lucky me, I got accepted at the animal medicine clinic of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, one of the best of its kind, to learn veterinary nursing. With my focus on dermatology (with a high nutrition part), cardiology, and pharmacy, I had one of the most interesting times in my life while working there.
After my time at the university, I was more than excited to be eligible for a government sponsorship for an internship abroad in veterinary nursing. I chose to work in Greece, where I had friends and could, at the same time, satisfy my love for travel and languages. It was an extraordinary time, to say the least!
When I came back I started working at a pet supply retail store in my hometown. I learned even more about pet foods and dietary needs and soon became frequently asked for by customers due to my extended veterinary knowledge.
But since I wasn't ready to settle down yet, in 2018 I traveled around the globe to do work and travel in Australia (which ended up being a more permanent move than originally planned).
Here I've finally had the time to go further with my nutrition studies which I had started in 2017 and to deepen my knowledge in agriculture.
My food journey: My whole interest in nutrition and food started when I studied animal management back in 2012. There I learned to evaluate livestock, ie to assess holding facilities and the current health of the animals, and also to compare different animal welfare laws and their actual implementation.
This knowledge and ability set off a whole avalanche. I saw the lack of transparency, and the more I researched the more I found out about the influence food has on our whole body and mind but also the unhealthy ways of how our food is often produced.
First, this only changed my dietary habits, then friends and family followed. When I realized I wanted to know more about actual nutrition in itself and also be able to sufficiently answer all the questions I got asked, the next step was to become a certified nutritionist.
But good food alone did and does not make everything right. Like everyone else, I had and still have times when eating 'the right thing' is just too much effort.
I had lost touch with my intuition. This was the time when I found an amazing person and coach who brought me back to meditation, breathing, and being calm. To hear myself again.
This was the moment I knew I need to share my knowledge and hold out my hand for people who lost touch the same way I did.
My heart and passion: As an introvert and empath, I am often the quiet, observing one, the one who has the most compassion with the over-looked, left-out ones.
I am an old soul, someone who feels like they carry the wisdom of their ancestors on a more accessible level. I have always been deeply connected with the elements. I sense and feel more than other people.
The longing of my soul may be summed up by the old Sanskrit mantra 'Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu', which can be translated to: may all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.
